May Contain Fish

I bought some salmon - this was on the packaging. Has the world gone mad?

Wired for Sound

I bought a copy of Wired magazine in Munich airport and read this amazing tale. It made me really appreciate the music that I was listening to

Naqoyqatsi

I read about Philip Glasses "Einstein on the Beach" in Rod's blog. Unfortunately that's not available via iTunes. Reviews also put Naqoyqatsi as his most accessable (read: easier for a beginner) album. I bought it and I'm blown away.

Airport Express

I'd been meaning to add an airport express with iTunes into my home hi-fi so that I could stream music to it from our computers. I finally managed that today. It plugged in and work with only a little faffing. However, I did have a lot of drop out until I upgraded the firmware on my WRT54G Linksys router. It's ok now and I can stream music from any iTunes anywhere. I also downloaded and got working Airfoil - a Mac OS X tool that can take any audio stream and point it at an Airport Express.

The upside? I can listen to The Archers anywhere in my house, anytime.

Getting Things Done

A little while ago, I saw this article in Wired magazine. I rang a bit of a bell as my work (and home) life seems to have become more complex by at least one order of magnitude. I mulled a while and then bought the book. It's quite a straightforward read and, as I read it, I started to want to implement it. I did. So for the past 6 weeks or so, I've been running my home and work "projects" this way. It has made a huge difference; my e-mail is under control and I'm more relaxed about the multitude of plates that I need to keep spinning.

Training

The last few weeks have been a blur, with travel to the US, Korea and Germany. Still travelling this week, I spent a couple of days just north of Cambridge (Fordham) attending a Penna course on coaching for leaders. Very, very interesting. I found a lot of it validating what I've been doing for the last 15 months (which is cool), but there was a lot of good stuff to think about. If I can hang onto my desk for long enough, I'll try and apply what I've learnt.
