Still Playing
This new toy is amazing - I've installed loads of software and can do everything that I need to at work and (mostly) at home.
It just runs. You close the lid, it sleeps. You open and it wakes, but, and here's the rub - it wakes immediately and is useful. Wow - too many years of Windows. This is how computing should be.

New Toy
My birthday present arrived at work today - an Intel Core Duo MacBook. The black one. Very, very nice.

Memory Lane
We ended up going to Bedford. We lived there when we graduated (in '82). It's a not very prosperous market town. Lots of nice Georgian buildings but with an air of "down at heel". Gill managed to buy material from the Singer shop (still there) and we had lunch in "The Ship" - the pub that we used to go to from work when we both worked for Prime Computers.
I don't think that we'll be going back.

More Exploring
I doodled around doing some painting (just enough to protect against the winter) in the morning and, in the afternoon, we had a further explore of the footpaths, walking to Mobb's Hole. An odd little place, basically woodland with a moat. It's supposed to be pretty old.
[Captain's log supplemental: apparently someone found a stone axehead there dating from around 6000 BC.]

Antique Shopping

We went to Ampthill antiques shopping and came back with this Victorian chest of drawers. Well, we didn't bring it back, big Steve came round with a van and he and I carried it into the house and up the stairs into our bedroom. This is now Gill's chest of drawers; I got to use the whole of the old one.
