Richard's Aga

Gill and I dropped in on Richard and Marijke this afternoon to see their Aga. We had a lovely meal there last night and they all came to see us just after 10am this morning. The house resounded to the sound of children running about. I'm thinking of contacting the National Trust and having a brochure made. Still, it's nice having people admire the house, even if it needs something done to more or less every room.

Decorating

Gill and I have been decorating (first time in years). We're doing the sitting room in time for some furniture to be delivered this Thursday. I found this furniture company on the web that delivers sofas and chairs unassembled, especially for cottages and flats. Labels: House

Fire!
It being winter and having a fireplace, we've started burning logs in the evening. I must admit to a little frisson of excitement / fear as I wonder about sparks and the thatched part of the cottage. The first time we lit the fire I went outside to see if I could see sparks! It's an interesting fire, apparently quite rare; it's a Rayburn that draws air into the bottom of the fire from the outside. This means that it burns well but doesn't create drafts in the living room.Labels: House
